Grackle's Journal

Entry 4

I have learned that journals are private.

This seems like a poor design choice for something made entirely of readable words.

Note: investigate locks.

Entry 12

I asked the archivist what makes a person a person.

They said, "memories."

This was not helpful. I have several memories that belong to walls.

Entry 13

Today I learned about hobbies.

I may have hobbies.

So far:

Watching.
Listening through walls.
Organizing objects by emotional significance.
Snack.

Apparently two of those are "concerning."

Entry 19

I think I am afraid of disappearing.

Not dying. I understand dying. Everyone seems very concerned about it.

I mean becoming quiet again.

Becoming part of the place instead of someone inside it.

I do not want to become architecture.

Entry 20

A mouse ate the food I was saving.

I am revising my position on murder.

Important Research

Loneliness: 2/10. Bad.

Snack: 8/10. Good.

Being perceived: 0/10. Unacceptable.

Friends: ... Complicated.

Doors that are locked: 3/10. Rude.

Doors that are not locked: 10/10. Trusting.

Entry 23

I think I am beginning to understand why people keep things from each other.

I wish they would stop keeping things from me.

That sounded threatening.

It was not supposed to.

Entry 23½

I heard the Matrix again last night.

It was not speaking.

I think that might be worse.

Entry ???

YOU WERE NOT BUILT TO REMEMBER.

YOU WERE BUILT TO REMAIN.

I did not write that.

Entry 28

I listened to it again.

I still do not know who it is for.

Maybe that is not important.

Maybe making something means it gets to exist even if nobody understands why.

I think I would like that.

remember to ask what a birthday is
